I spent some time, a few months ago, doing some black & white sketches of some of the scenes and characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Here are a few of them.

Today’s post is a collection of all the Toy Story characters that I have worked on. All of them, except the Little Green Man are pencil and watercolor paint. The LGM is ink and watercolor.
I kind of missed the boat on when the first Toy Story movie came out. I didn’t really see it until the first dvd collection came out. It was an amazing set with tons of behind the scenes features. After that I was really hooked on Pixar movies. While the first movie is good, I like part 2 and 3 more. It’s one of those rare times where I enjoy the sequels more then the original.

Day two, and here is some more art that was created recently and shown at the first convention I have shown at. First up is a drawing of the Hitch Hiking Ghosts who are trying to find their way out of Disney’s Haunted Mansion. It is a marker and ink drawing. And this is a piece that sold at the show.
This is a color version of the piece that I did.
Best Friends
Muppets are and have always been important to me. The photo this is based on is just perfect. It is a 5″x7″ watercolor and ink piece and is for sale for $20.
This infamous resident from the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland is named the Hatbox Ghost. His special talent is to make his head disappear from his body and reappear in the hatbox as you pass by him. He is a new member of the 999 happy haunts that fill the mansion but, this is not his first time there. Part of fame comes from the fact that he was an original character when the ride opened. He was there for just a few days and just like you would expect from a ghost, he disappeared completely. In, fact, the animatronic of the character was completely lost!
For the fans, he was that character that we had to know more about. We would crave those photos that surfaced to try and imagine what the Mansion would be like with him in it. I believe that old video footage of him has recently surfaced. Thanks to Disney we no longer have to imagine what the Hatbox Ghost was like because they have made a new version of him and he currently is haunting the attic of the Mansion in Disneyland.

Everybody’s got a laughin’ place
This is a painting of the final scene of the ride, Splash Mountain. It features the largest animatronic(the boat, which rocks back and forth) and a bunch of animatronic characters from the America Sings attraction. It is a oil, ink and watercolor painting.
This is for sale and will be on Etsy soon.
Splash Mountain is one of the rides that I love going on but will sometimes have to skip. It’s always a last second judgement call on if I’m willing to walk around the park with wet pants and shoes. But, the theming and ride itself is so great!
Last month during the 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge, I finished this painting which I had started earlier in the year. It’s the first painting in a series of Nightmare Before Christmas paintings I’m planning on doing. All of them will be in this same size and format, oil on canvas.
As we near our time in the Haunted Mansion(for now), we make our way past some crypts and hear some familiar music being sung by these 5 characters. Probably the most iconic of the characters in the graveyard scene, these characters are still to this day a great looking effect.
This is the original drawing in ink and marker before the color job in Photoshop.
This is one job that most of us would not want! He is the originally named, Caretaker. We run into these two just after escaping the attic of the Haunted Mansion, right before we make our way into the cemetery, They are like the Shaggy and Scooby Do of the Mansion.
