I know I’m behind the times when it comes to most tv shows, and Parks and Recreation is one of those shows I missed. I just recently started to watch it on Netflix and I’m really enjoying it. I had some extra time between the ink drawings that I’m doing this month and decided to do a little painting. This is Andy, who is played by Chris Pratt.
Today’s portrait is of Julie Adams, who plays Kay in the Creature From the Black Lagoon. It’s another watercolor painting, where I’m trying to stay close to the Zorn palette. In the movie she is the main object of the Gillman’s attention.
October is the time of the year called Inktober, where people are doing a month’s worth of ink drawings and I’m thinking about joining in for my first time. And the reason I bring this up is because I’m thinking that the Creature From the Black Lagoon film might be a main subject of the drawings I will do for the month.
decided to start a new theme for Friday and that is Figure Drawing Fridays. The goal will be to draw a male and female each week. Any style or media goes. Last night I worked on these two with ink and markers. As I started to prepare to draw, I decided to look at some books of two artists I really admire, Frank Cho and Adam Hughes. They are both known for their comic book artwork and for their skills at drawing the female form. And that put me in the kind of head space I wanted to try for this week’s figures. I am very inspired by Adam’s use of markers and that is what had me reaching for my markers for these two pieces. #figuredrawingfridays#figuredrawing#art#markers#ink #illustration #figuremodel
