Try Something

From the lack of frequency on my blog you can see that I did not make it through the 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge.  I gave up on it after I realized that this month was just too busy and stressful for me to keep that pace going.  I’d do more art than I posted here.  There were a few more pieces on my social media.  You should follow along with, it’s fun!

One other reason for the lack of art is that I’m just not enjoying what I have been producing, and this has been an issue for a while now.  So, the thing I need to start focusing on is fixing this.  What that means is still unknown to me.

But, I will keep plugging along.  And this piece is a part of that process.  It is a watercolor and ink painting of the bounty hunter from Star Wars, Boba Fett.  And, here is the non painted version:

Which version do you prefer, ink or painted?

30 Paintings in 30 Days – Day 10

30 Paintings in 30 Days – Day 10
Here is something a bit different for today. This is a painted version of a drawing I did earlier in the week of Ardath Bey from the original movie of the Mummy. Instead of oil paints, this is a ink and watercolor painting on a Bristol sheet.

Apocalypse

Apocolypse

Wrapping up this week of X-Men, with our fourth character, Apocalypse.   He is the big baddie of the new film, X-Men: Apocalypse.  He is a time travelling Egyptian God who wants to take over the world.  Just another day at the office for the X-Men.  In the movie he is played by Oscar Isaac.  The final version of this piece was drawn with ink and painted in Photoshop.

Here is the line art-

Magneto

Magneto

Day 3 of X-Men characters from the movie universe brings us to good guy/bad guy, the master of magnetism, Magneto.  He is portrayed by Michael Fassbender in the last 3 films.  His constant flip flopping from evil to good is not just a movie thing, this is also the way he has been portrayed in the comic books.  To me, Magneto will always be on the side of evil and I think he works best that way.  He is such a good bad guy because his reasons for doing the “wrong” things is completely understandable.  You can empathize with his way of thinking.  And I never felt the movies gave us a Magneto who you believe really wanted to make the world pay for the ways humans treat the mutant population.  That aside, I think Michael Fassbender does a great job.

Here is the drawing pre-Photoshop coloring:
